Great Grandfather

"I found it interesting that this card states, '75 Princes St, Edinburgh and Aberdour'.  The back is blank.

The gent on the horse is my great grandfather, Henry (Harry) Shiels.  I'm unsure who the fellow is on the right.

My great grandfather was born in 1872 in Edinburgh.  He stayed in Kirkcaldy before moving to Canada circa 1913.  He married in 1894.  I do wonder if this was a pic was taken prior to his leaving Scotland.   The pipe is not a prop;  he did smoke one!

Question

I'd be interested to know when you think the pic was taken when you have the time."

Parisian Photo Co had a studio at 75 Princes Street, Edinburgh from around 1887 until 1914.  (I don't know the dates of their Aberdour studio.)

However, this is a cabinet print, and very few cabinet prints were produced by any photographers after about 1905.  I believe that most photographers stopped producing them and changed to other formats around 1900.

So I would expect that the photo above might have been produced around the 1890s or 1900.
