Grandparents

Thank you to John Stewart, Livingston, West Lothian, formerly Leith, for sending this photograph of his grandparents.

John wrote:

Before the Boer War

"I recently came across of this photo of my maternal grandparents before they married.

It shows my grandfather to be, John Wilson Patterson, in his uniform of the Lothian and Border Horse before he sailed for the Boer War at the turn of the 20th century.

My grandmother- to- be was Margaret Hendry."

Move to Edinburgh

"These photos were taken in Kelso.  My grandmother came to Edinburgh to work in service and her future husband followed.  He lodged in Ferrier Street whilst she stayed in Inverleith Row with her employers."

John Stewart, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland:  November 11, 2007
