Thank you to Jeff Nisbet who wrote, after seeing this photo from Robert McLelland's Portobello studio, with a backdrop yet to be identified.

Photograph by Robert McLelland. What is the backdrop supposed to be? ©

"My Aunt Patsy in Kansas City has just sent me this photo of my mother, aged about 6 or 7, that was taken in the Portobello studio of Robert McLelland.

My mother was born in 1928, so that would date the photo to about 1934 or 1935.

It shows another of McLelland's backdrops, and the most bizarre pony prop I've ever seen. My aunt tells me that my mother had earlier decided to give herself a haircut, and it certainly shows."
