Henry Robb's Last Ferry

The ferry 'St Helen'  was the last ferry to be built at Henry Robb's Caledonian Yard at Leith Docks. She was built in 1983.

Thank you to John Dickson for allowing me to reproduce this photo looking across Leith Western Harbour to the newly-built ferry, 'St Helen', berthed in front of Henry Robb's yard.

Ocean Terminal

The Ocean Terminal shopping and entertainment complex has now been built on the land where Henry Robb's shipyard once stood.  Ocean Terminal opened in 2001.

I don't yet have a photo looking across Western Harbour to Ocean Terminal, but here is a photo of the other side (the eastern-facing side) of Ocean Terminal:

Isle of Wight Ferry Service

The ferry 'St Helen'  was built for Sealink's Isle of Wight service from Portsmouth to Fishbourne.  She operated on that service for Sealink until 1990, then on the same route but for Whitelink.

This page on the Simplonpc web site has several photos of 'St Helen' operating on that route for both operators up to 2009.
