Location

These two vessels are moored close to The Royal Yacht Britannia, beside the .shopping and entertainment complex, Ocean Terminal.

In the background are:

-  tugs, close to the entrance to Leith Docks

-  the island of Inchcolm

-  the coast of Fife

Archer Class Vessels

The Royal Navy has 14 'Archer Class' Patrol and Training vessels, also known as P2000 Class fast patrol vessels or fast training vessels.

 The two seen here are:

-  HMS Biter (P270), commissioned 1986

-  HMS Charger (P292), commissioned 1986.

These vessels each have a crew of ten.  They are only 20m long and weigh 40 tons, but are classified by the Royal Navy as ships.  They are the smallest ships in the Royal Navy.
