is the Royal Institution, the first of two Art Galleries to be
built at the Foot of the Mound, Princes Street. This
view is from a drawing by Shepherd published in 1829. It
shows the building as originally constructed, before the addition
of Queen Victoria's statue. A

National Gallery was built behind the Royal Institution at
the Foot of the Mound in the 1850s. |
