Thank you to Miles
Cumming for sending me these photos of West Granton Access under
construction. The photos were probably taken around 1999 /
2000.
West Granton Access is
a new road that follows the track of the old Caledonian railway
line to Granton Harbour, from a point west of Crewe Toll
Roundabout to the junction of West Granton Road and Caroline Park
Avenue.
Caroline Park Avenue
is now part of the Edinburgh Waterfront development.
The hills of Fife on
the north side of the Firth of Forth can be seen in the
background.
In the middle-distance
is one of Granton's three gasometers (or gasholders). Only
one of the three has survived, and it is not this one. |
