West Granton Access

Thank you to Miles Cumming for sending me these photos of West Granton Access under construction.  The photos were probably taken around 1999 / 2000.

West Granton Access is a new road that follows the track of the old Caledonian railway line to Granton Harbour, from a point west of Crewe Toll Roundabout to the junction of West Granton Road and Caroline Park Avenue.

Caroline Park Avenue is now part of the Edinburgh Waterfront development.

The hills of Fife on the north side of the Firth of Forth can be seen in the background.

In the middle-distance is one of Granton's three gasometers (or gasholders).  Only one of the three has survived, and it is not this one.
