Photo 1
I've been asked to identify the
buildings in Photo 1. They are in the SE corner of White
Horse Close, near the foot of Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
Photo 1 appears to have been taken
probably some time in the 19th century. If you
know who took it or when, please email me.
Photos 2 and 3
Photos 2 and 3 are monochrome and colour
images of the same photo. They are the same view as
Photo 1, but were taken today- July 20, 2012. The view
is the same as Photo 1, looking to the south into the SE
corner of White Horse Close.
Comparison of
Photos 1, 2 and 3
(i) Most of the features in
the central part of Photo 1 can be identified in Photos 2 and
3. The fabric of the building appears to be in
considerably better condition today than it was when Photo 1
was taken.
(ii) The doorway on the left of
Photo 1 has been converted to a window.
(iii) The right-hand portion of the
building in photo 1 has been partially demolished, i.e. the
section with the double-window in the roof and the three
windows below it has been removed, leaving a shallower
building. A lean-to, one-storey building has been built
in its place.
