The caption on the back of this photograph, in the
Edinburgh City Archive refers to workers sleeping in the Transport Dept workshops
at Shrubhill during the strike,
15-17 November1920.
However, the same photograph appears in DLG Hunter's
book, Edinburgh Transport: The Corporation Years. Here the
scene is described as a photograph taken during the General Strike, May
1926, in the Heavy Repair Shop at Shrubhill, turned into a dormitory for
temporary workforce.
