      Proposed Development
      October 2004
Scottish Rugby Union, the owners of Murrayfield rugby stadium and
currently have £20m debt.  They have announced that they propose to
sell some of the land surrounding the stadium to be developed as luxury
      homes by builders, Miller. This
will entail demolishing the 65-year-old ice rink to the north of the rugby
stadium, currently used for ice hockey, skating and curling.  It is
expected that a new ice rink will be built either at Murrayfield or
elsewhere in Edinburgh as part of the deal.
