Exhibition Entries

The 1903 Open Exhibition  was held from 21 November until 5 December in the EPS Premises at 38 Castle Street.

This was the exhibition that would normally have been scheduled for February 1904, brought forward by three months.

There were 250 exhibits from 70 EPS Members and 25 other exhibitors. The numbers were rather lower than normal.

At the previous exhibition in November 1902 there had been 273 exhibits from 73 EPS Members and 20 other exhibitors.

A report of the exhibition published in the December 1903 edition of Transactions of Edinburgh Photographic Society said:

"The number of pictures hung this year shows an appreciable shrinkage; but that is accounted for by a number coming late and therefore rigorously rejected, and others being rejected by the Hanging Committee.

-  Messrs R Adam & Son Ltd (as in former years) for the use of a couple of their "Ardent" oil stoves , which kept the hall comfortably warmed.
