Valentine & Sons Ltd were better known for their postcards, but they also published a number of small books in the early 1900s. Above is one of the books from their Rose Library series. Other books in this series include works by Thank you to Sandra McGechan for allowing me to reproduce this illustration of her book, which she tells me came from a recent house clearance in Christchurch, New Zealand. Sandra wrote: "There is an inscription in pencil in this book, dating it to around 1914. It would be great if you could tell me anything about the book. Is it rare or were they quite common?"
