William Rees had studios at several addresses in Portobello from 1892
until 1925. He was also listed in the trade directory with a
studio at 131 Lothian Road in 1915.
I have not seen any reference to his studio at 10 East Richmond Street in any
of the trade directories, but I have seen two of his cartes de
visite bearing this address. When might this studio have operated?
The style of mount suggests to me that they may date from around the
1890s
Valarie Harding who sent these photographs to me writes:
"The portraits are of
unidentified relatives of mine, perhaps Lawrence or Smith surnames."
