The Belvedere - in the grounds of Morton House

Thank you to Jimmy Cunningham, Gracemount Edinburgh for allowing me to reproduce this photograph of the Belvedere in the grounds of Morton House, about 3/4 mile SE of Fairmilehead.

Morton House was built in the early 18th century.  It lies between Frogston Road West and the City of Edinburgh Bypass, and is approached from Winton Loan.  The Belvedere, also built in the early 18th century, lies close to Morton House, to the SE of the house.

Thank you to Jimmy for also sending me this photograph of other buildings in the Mortonhall area.  Please click on the thumbnail image below to enlarge this view of Broomhill Cottages.  These cottages are about 1/4 mile south of Frogston Road East and about a mile east of Morton House.
