Looking to the north from Holyrood Park

1961

Thank you to Jack ('Sarge') for allowing me to reproduce this photo.

This view looks down from the northern slopes of Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park.

Holyrood Palace is in the centre of the photo.  The open grassy area in the lower-left corner is now part of the grounds of the Scottish Parliament.

The Firth of Forth is in the background, with the coast of Fife beyond it in the upper-left.  The high buildings in the centre of the photo are in Leith, about two miles NNE of the centre of Edinburgh.

The road seen above the left-hand side of Holyrood Palace, leading towards Leith, is Easter Road.

2004

This photograph was taken on October 9, 2004.  It looks down on what was the open grassy area in the lower-left corner of the 1961 photograph above.
