Yard in the Docks This photo is of a yard of empty cable reels in one of the yards at Leith Docks. The tower block flats, Grampian House and Cairngorm House in Lindsay Road (both now demolished and replaced by new flats) can be seen in the background. Railway line can still be seen in the foreground. At one time, the docks were covered with railway lines, but by the time that I came to Edinburgh in the 1960s, all that I ever saw running on them was a couple of diesel shunters. |
