"My Dad took this photo in 1957 or 1958.  I've never seen a photo with the beach so crowded, and not an inch on the Promenade either.  The family with the pram also brought along their ghetto blaster of the day."

"The Portobello Pottery kilns are in background.    It looks as if the photo would have been taken from the bottom of Kings Road on a day when we had also been to the Swimming pool."

"I think the photo of the beach would probably have been taken on a Sunday, as tI have a pic taken at the pool with my mum in it dressed in her 'Sunday Best'.
