John Hope Gateway The new £15.7m John Hope Gateway visitors' centre at the western gate to the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh in October 2009. I have appreciated the design of the building and the natural materials used. However, Allan Dodds has mentioned a problem. |

Alan wrote: Spiral Staircase "Here is a photo of the beautiful spiral staircase, just newly installed in the new Botanics centre, after it split and had to be repaired/camouflaged You can see the temporary wooden props in place which have since been replaced by ghastly black iron girders.
