Ian Ross of the 1st Leith Boys' Brigade Company Ex-Members'  Association wrote:

"Here is a photo of the Boys' Brigade Rest Huts at The Mound.

The huts were 'manned' by boys of the Brigade throughout the latter part of WW1 and provided troops coming home on leave with a hot meal and a bed for the night before they moved on."
