Centenary Souvenir Leaflet

1844 - 1944

This leaflet celebrates the centenary of Newhaven Primary School in 1944.  Celebrations included a performance of a 'Pageant of Newhaven', looking at events in Newhaven since its founding in 150.

The leaflet traces the history of education in Newhaven from the 18th century when education was provided by The Ancient Society of Free Fishermen to the century from 1844 when education and other activities, including The Fisher Girls' Choir, were provided by Newhaven School.

The leaflets includes advertisements for many of the local shops and businesses, most now closed, with an advert for Ye Olde Peacock Hotel (for Weddings, Dinners, Suppers, Parties) on the back page.
