John also sent me a copy of a photograph of this type of bus - No.164, an AEC Y-type with solid tyres, ordered by Edinburgh Corporation Motors in 1920 for the cable car replacement programme.

The photo comes from the Robert Grieve Archive, now held by the Scottish Motor Museum Trust.  It is the second photo on the top line of thumbnail images on this page of the Scran web site.
