"Here is the
only other photo I've been able to find of my great grandparents,
Alexander and Jane Pringle, and their horse, Atholl. I guess this was
taken around 1910.
They seem to
have got dressed up in their finery - and bulled up the carriage and the
horse especially for the photo session - particularly my great
grandmother's hat.
They look so proud.
They had come from absolute poverty forty odd years earlier - and here
they are sitting in their fine carriage.
It's
difficult to know here the picture was taken - probably in the city, as
there is a pavement.
Looking at the
background, and knowing where they lived, it could be around the Meadows
or Bruntsfield.
There is no
photographer's name - just references on the back probably from the person
who mounted it on card."
