The Team

"Here is a photo of Blackfriars Street Football Team, 1955-56.  Some of the EdinPhoto readers may recognise their fathers in the photo.

My father, Edward Welsh, is in the middle row, 3rd from the right I only know two other names:

-  Pat Dignan ( I hope I am right) is 1st on the right, top row.

-  Malcolm Robson is 5th on the top row.

Both were friends of my mother and father, Margaret and Edward Welsh.  My mother lived at 35 Blackfriars Street and my father lived in the High Street."

Mike's photo appears to have been taken from a newspaper, so would probably not reproduce well, and I would have to check on its copyright before adding it to the site, so I've not included it

My Grandfather

"Carol Bell's photo above of Blackfriars United reminded me I had a photo of the team from 1946.**

My grandfather, John Reid, is on the far right of the front row of the photo.  He and my Gran lived on Blackfriars Street for many years before moving to Lochview Court, one of new high rise flats in Dumbiedykes."

**  In fact, Mike's photo appears to have been taken from a newspaper, so would probably not reproduce well, and I would have to check on its copyright before adding it to the site, so I've not included it
