School "In this 1945 photo of the Canonmills school class, I am in the back row middle. The teacher's name was Miss Gregg. I was born at 47 Broughton Road, Edinburgh in 1934. I also attended Bellevue High School until I was 14 . Then we moved to Broomhouse at Sighthill where I finished my schooling at Carrickvale School." Apprenticeship I served my apprenticeship as a Joiner with David Paterson and Sons on Gorgie Road and left to come to Canada in 1954 when I was 20. Canada I know live in Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island so am delighted to see some of my old haunts on the web site." Jim Callender, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada: April 9, 2007 |

School Class "My sister just found this photo on the EdinPhoto site. We are sure that our Mother - Helen Duffy (née Robertson) - is the girl in the front row far left The timescale all fits. - She would have been about 10 years of age in 1945. - She lived in Canonmills at the tenement stair on the corner of Warriston Road and Canonmills. This is great, as we do not have any photos of my Mum when she was this age. Thanks to Jim Callender for this." Eddie Duffy, Fox Covert, Edinburgh: July 3, 2012 |
