Leith Bus Depot
Children's Picnic
1965 - Alva Glen
"This photo shows the children of the Leith
Depot bus driving and conducting staff`s children at their picnic in Alva
Glen in 1965.
My daughter, Karen, is third from right in
front, with shoulder bag and hands clasped. Depot Inspector David Crease
is the one with the trilby, centre rear.
There must
be many of these girls around, now in their
late-1940s."

Kenneth Williamson, whose
father was a tram driver in Leith also remembers the outings to Alva Glen
in West Lothian.
Kenneth tells me: |
Leith Bus Depot
Children's Picnic
Alva Glen
"Buses
for the outings left from Smith's Place, off Leith Walk, close to the
Leith Tram Depot. We bought streamers from the stationer, across the
road, and attached them to the bus.
We had a picnic at Alva Glen. The bakery
van arrived there at lunchtime and we bought pies and coconut buns.
Christmas Parties
"The Christmas Parties were also good fun.
Here is a photo of me looking 'aghast' at the person beside me
drinking their juice without a straw at one of these parties."
