Thank you to John Clark for

"I think this photo was probably
taken around 1944.
Miss Jameson was the absolute
sweetest teacher in the world. I loved her so much. I would like to know
if anyone can tell if she is still alive. I think she would only be about
21 years old in the photo, so she could be in her mid eighties, and God
willing still in good health."

Scottish Schools
"My
mother lived in Edinburgh before moving to Nottingham. She always
said Scottish education was the best in the world. She may have been right
- although the downside was that teachers used the strap. She called
it the belt.
I suppose even Miss Jameson,
though described as the sweetest teacher, would have used the strap."

English Schools
I don't know about Miss Jameson, but I can tell you that use of the
strap was not confined to Scotland. I attended school at Bradford,
Yorkshire, England. Several of the teachers, but not all, used the strap
there.

"My

gave the belt, but I don't know about Miss Jameson."
