Ruberoid Outing
"I found this photo in the belongings
of my mother who passed away in 2012 aged 98.
My father, Larry Blackwood, worked for
Ruberoid, near Granton Harbour, after the war, but I know very
little about the company or what my father did there. He,
and my mother, Jessie, are the couple behind the lad kneeling 3
from the left in this photo of the works outing in 1947."
Questions
"1. Where might this photo have
been taken?
2. Do you know the names of any
of the other workers?"

I've not yet received any
replies to the questions that John Blackwood has asked above, but I have
received another message about Ruberoid Co.
Robert Baptie has sent me a
copy of a letter written on behalf of Ruberoid. It may be of
interest both for its contents and for its message and for the details it
gives about the company's business and addresses. |
Robert wrote.
Letter
"Here is a copy of a letter belonging
to my late father, with regards to the posting by John Blackwood
above.
My father worked for Ruberoid during
the war as a despatch clerk until having to leave to return to
Southampton in 1946:"

Robert added:
"I've been trying to find out
information about the company myself, and I was pleased to see the
photo that Mr Blackwood provided but alas, it was taken a year
after my father left."
