Thank you to Danny Callaghan for sending me this photo looking west along George Street towards Charlotte Square and the dome of St George's Church, from close to the junction with Castle Street.

The street in this photo is almost deserted, with no pedestrians and very few parked cars.

"The picture above clearly shows the detail of the lighting in George Street.  I had thought the date of the photo was around 1958 and this seems to be confirmed by postings on the black and white photo below.

I remember my Dad taking this photo.  He went up town very early one Sunday morning, probably to the 7am Mass at St Mary's Cathedral and took some photos including this one.

Dad was always an early riser.  That's something else that has not rubbed off on me, like his dancing and singing!
