83 Pitt Street

Allan Dodds who used to work for Campbell Harper Ltd, photographers,  has already referred to h is Grandmother in his Pitt Street recollections.

Here he has sent a photograph of his Grandmother's shop at 83 Pitt Street, next door to Irvine Electrical, before demolition.  These buildings on the east side of Pitt Street to the south of Henderson Row.

Allan wrote

Shops

"Here is a photograph of my grandmother's sweet shop at 83 Pitt Street.   The photo was taken by Campbell Harper Ltd., probably by Robert Muir.  Anne Harper is posing at the back of the queue at the bus stop.

I remember this photo being taken around 1961-62.  I believe that this row of shops was demolished around the mid-1960s.

This photo was taken from outside what used to be Mr Moran's Italian ice-cream shop, just next door to Clark's Bar, a pub which is till there today and exactly as it was fifty years ago!

The top of Davidson's Church in Eyre Crescent can be seen in the background of this photo.
