"This photo is of the old
Corporation Buildings in Sheriff Brae. It was taken in
1982, prior to demolition.
Leith Hospital is in the rear with
its boiler house on its left. I used to play in the 'coppie' as
a child."

I asked John where the word 'coppie' came from.
He replied
"The word `coppie` was a colloquial
term used by the locals meaning Corporation Buildings.
The playing area was the enclosed
area between the 3 blocks that made up the `coppie`"
