John Codona

"John Codona, presumably a member of the fairground family, used to come round the streets of Edinburgh playing his one-man-band, which incorporated a full set of Highland bagpipes as well as a big drum on his back.

As he got older he suffered from breathlessness, making him unable to fill the bag any more, but undaunted, he carried on entertaining us on his chanter on its own.

I was a very small girl when my dad took this photo, but I remember him clearly."
