Margaret Salisbury, affectionately known as 'The Welsh Dragon', is one of three British photographers who were appointed Honorary Vice Presidents of Edinburgh Photographic Society in 2011, the year that the society celebrated its 150th Anniversary.

Margaret wrote:

My Photography

"My love for photography started with the harsh landscapes of North Wales and Pictorial photography, taking pictures almost solely in monochrome, printing in the darkroom. Now with the ability to produce Digital prints of the quality which could be obtained with 'silver printing', I have renewed my interest in monochrome including new images of the Slate Industry and landscape photography.

A visit to Africa to a Wedding resulted in an essay on Village life in Ghana with which images I was awarded the MFIAP (Master Artist of the International Federation of Photographic Art), an award held by little more than 150 photographers worldwide and a Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation."

My Photography Lectures

"My lectures cover a wide range of subjects from Landscape to Illustrative and Pictorial Images as well as the people of the many countries I have visited during the past ten years.

My new talk will include new images of the life of the people in Ghana, 'The Dragon Worldwide'.

I also produce different talks, as requested, for Seminars, using colour and/or monochrome prints or Prints/Projected images.

These talks include 'Children of the World', 'Monochrome', and 'Choosing the right paper for the picture'; and joint lectures with John for Fotospeed Printing Workshops.

I will travel to any venue UK or abroad. I enjoy judging competitions and selecting exhibitions, having served 20 years on the LRPS panel of the Royal Photographic Society.  I am Chairman of the Disabled Photographers Society Distinctions Panel, and enjoy assessing images for Distinction and Awards.
