"Calton
Hill was great in the winter as you could take a large cardboard
box, flatten it out and slide down the frosty slopes."

"I remember
many, many great times that we kids
enjoyed playing in the Dobbies.*
We
would go through the fence at the bottom of where all the nice
grass grew and play hide and seek and cowboys and Indians,
and of course roll the easter eggs in the nice grassy area."
"Then we'd head along to the Calties
(Calton Hill) and climb up on Edinburgh's
answer to the Greek Acropolis. We had
no money but we still had great times.
I know times have changed, but I
will be visiting these places in the next couple of weeks and
showing and telling my grand-daughter about all these fantastic
times that we used to have."

"Calton
Hill was a great place to take a big cardboard box on a
frosty morning. All you had to do
was open out the box, sit on it holding on for dear life
and whizz down the hill - great
fun !"
