Jimmy Wardhaugh
"After I left Newhaven school,
I was sent to Holy Cross Academy on Ferry Road,
just along from Trinity Academy.
I was in the school football team,
along with many others including Jimmy Wardhaugh who later became skipper
of the Hearts.
Even in his schooldays Jimmy was nothing short
of brilliant. I always knew he would go on
to great things in the game. Jimmy was never
much of a scholar but he was a lovely guy,
always friendly, even to very ordinary players like myself.
Tragically he passed away far too early.
Hey Steve, the game is finally catching on
over here in Australia, Eh?
