Question
Snooker Club
"I was born and brought up in Ferrier
Street, Leith.
What was the name of the snooker club situated
in the old Drambuie / Buttercup Dairy
building in Easter Road which was destroyed in a
fire?
I think it was
owned by the McNairs."

"Kenny: Go into website
Old Leither web site.
There will be someone on that site who will know the answer to your
question.
It's also a great website with a lot of
information about Leith."

I agree with Ruth's comments above, about the Old

Here is a
photo of John (holding a certificate) with some of his friends, taken in
2010 at Leith Library.
The photo was
taken at a surprise arranged by some of the contributors to the
Old
Leither web site, to thank John for
his all his efforts in creating and running the site.

Ferrier Street
"Hi Kenny:
When
did you live in Ferrier Street? I palled
around with:
-
Claude and Davy Laird
-
Jimmy Colison and
-
a couple of other guys whose names
escape me right now.
in the middle and late-1950s.

"We used
to play snooker at the snooker club above the old picture house
- I believe it was called the Palace
Palace Picture House - at the ' fit o' the
Walk'.
I have some great
memories of these times, tough but good!

Ferrier Street
1946-52
"I' was born in
Ferrier Street and had the most wonderful childhood. I used to live
at No.9, opposite Nessie the sweet shop and Charlie's the groscer.
I went to the
'Cappi' every Saturday for the song. Sixpence went a long way in
those days. I went back to visit my Nana at Ferrier Street every
weekend.
I'd love to hear from
anyone who lived there between 1946 and 1952."
