School from 1944
"I lived in Gibson Terrace
until I was 11years old and moved south to
Hertfordshire with Dad's work. I attended
North Merchiston Primary School before going on
to my first year at Boroughmuir.
I can still wander,
in my memory, quite clearly to the day
in 1944 when I started school
at Merchiston. I walked home during playtime and was taken
back by Mum!
Anyway, I have much to thank Miss
Simpson for . She was a real
'Jean Brodie' in her
day, but she gave me a great start to life in education!
I spent so
much of my childhood at
Fountainbridge
LIbrary, wandering and dreaming through the books available! I
was known as Ena Duff in those days!"
