Heather Chattin left this question in the EdinPhoto
guest book:
|
"Can anyone tell me
what happened to Pentland High School? I went there in March
1953 from Broomhouse Primary.
Is there anyone out
there who remembers me from those schools?"

"I've
just asked my Hubby about Pentlands
School as he went there. It was
used for a while for Tynecastle Annex.
I'm not sure when it was demolished.
I
seem to remember seeing some sort of Supermarket or the likes on
the site. Every time we makes
trips home to Edinburgh, we do this
'old haunts' trips around town."

"I attended Pentlands
High School from 1951 until 1954.
I was one of the first
pupils there.
It had been Gorgie Primary
School that my granny
had attended when she lived in Newton
Street.
- Dr
Key was the 1st headmaster
-
Miss Lairg taught Latin.
- She
was my favorite teacher.
- In
1952, I won the school sports and still
have the cup that I won.
- I played
Rugby fr the school and, to this day, I still love the game as a
spectator.
Some of my classmates were:
Pentlands High School closed, and the
school was newly built as Forrester High next to St Augustine's .
It was demolished a few years ago and is now a supermarket."

"I was a pupil at Pentland Secondary School from 1958 and there
during the move to Forrester's High School. I fondly remember
my time at both establishments.
May I correct one point?
-
Dr Kay was Head.
-
Miss
Laing taught French and Religious Studies.
-
Mr Aitken taught Metal Work (in the annex).
-
Mr Irvine taught Sciences. He was our Form teacher."
"I was in First Senior year at Forrester's, and left in April
1961 to be an apprentice soldier in the Royal Engineers.
Now retired I've had a successful career in the Power Transmission
Engineering Industry"
