5/-
Subscription + 5/- Joining Fee
When
EPS was established in 1861, it charged an initial entry fee of 5/- and
a subscription of 5/- pa. For many years, the society used the
services of a Collector to bring in the subscriptions. The
Collector retained 5% of the amount collected.
In
addition to the annual subscription, there was a Joining Fee of 5/-, but
in
Feb 1866 the EPS rules were changed to allow ladies to join
without paying the Joining Fee.
This was not sufficient to entice the ladies into the society. No
ladies joined during the remainder of the 1866 season.
