A Horsley Hinton was born in London in 1863.  He was the editor of Amateur Photographer in the 1890s.

By 1903, he had written at least five books, including  'Platinotype Printing' in 1898.

 

EPS Lecturer and Exhibition Judge

A Horsley Hinton was one of the three judges for the Edinburgh Photographic Society's  International Exhibition in 1901.

On 14 February 1901, probably during his visit to Edinburgh to judge the exhibition, he gave a lecture to the Edinburgh Photographic Society, entitled:

Some Practical Points in Pictorial Photography.

 

Photographs for Sale in Auction

A portfolio of five studies by A Horsley Hinton, c.1900, is included in Sotheby's Auction to be held at New Bond Street, London on 17 May 2005.

Lot No 74:  Estimated selling price:  £500 - £700.

This lot includes a photograph of Niagara, illustrated in the catalogue.
