Portraits Looking for a Home

Bernadette Keenan emailed me in August, telling me:

"I have come across some photographs of models taken by C G Reddington A.R.P.S . I was given them several years ago by a friend in Edinburgh.

I would be willing to re-unite these photos with the models or families.  Are you are able to help me with this in any way .  It would be really nice to be able to pass them on to the families."

Portrait Photography

Cyril Reddington was one of the studio workers at Edinburgh Photographic Society in the 1960s.

Robin Gillanders the Portrait Photographer and Senior Lecturer in Photography who has had many of his photographs published in books and accepted in exhibitions recalls:

"I remember Cyril Reddington well – in fact as a young keen photographer, I attended his studio instruction sessions and learnt initial techniques from him. His portraiture tended to be of the pictorialist style – attractive ladies and old men - none of whom were elevated by being given surnames."

Four Portraits

Here are four of Bernadette Keenan's portraits taken by the Edinburgh Photographic Society member, Cyril Reddington.  Bernadette tells me that the names of the models in her Cyril Reddington photos are Anne, Hilary, Jan, Jennifer, Margaret, Mattey, Pauline and Susan.

The first  three models below are Margaret, Anne, Jan.  No name is given on the fourth photo.

If you recognise these models and know how to contact them or their families, please email me, then I'll pass on your message to Bernadette.

Thank you.  - Peter Stubbs:  August 22, 2008
