In this wide-ranging  lecture, Robert Dykes gave advice on Astronomical Work, Lighting, Skiagraphs, Firework Displays, Illuminations, Conflagrations, Iron Foundries and Blast Furnaces, Shop Fronts, Naval and other Manoeuvres, Street Photography, Churches by Night, Railway Stations by Night, Shipping and Harbour Scenes, Seascapes and Clouds, Moonlight Effects, Panoramic Views, Snow Scenes and Big Game by Flash-Light!

His table of recommended exposure times at f11 ranged from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
