Thomas Jackson Bonne

Thomas Jackson Bonne was born in USA in 1836 or 1837  [Census:1871]

[I have a note that the 1881 census reports that he was born in Maybole, Ayrshire, c.1833.  I must check this.]

9th PSS Exhibition, Dec 1864

Thomas J Bonne exhibited 5 portraits of Gentlemen and Ladies, and 36 cartes de visite at the 9th PSS Exhibition in 1864.

Between 1866 and 1894, he worked as a photographer from several addresses in the centre of Edinburgh.

From 1871 to 1880, he advertised:

Photographer  TJ Bonne

16 Princes Street

(Opposite Waverley Station)

In 1895, his business passed to Mrs Thomas J Bonne.  Did he die or retire?  Mrs Bonne carried on the business at the same address until her death in 1901.

T J Bonne & Co

The name T J Bonne & Co, based at 105 Princes Street, also appears on the back of carted de visite.  I cannot trace this company in the trade directories.

When was T & J Bonne & Co in business?
