Miss Bertram was listed in the Edinburgh trade directories as a
photographer based at 47 Rose Street from 1914 to 1917.
However, she still appeared to be in business in 1918. Hers was
one of that agreed to the Edinburgh Professional Photographers'
Association proposed closing dates for
1918 summer holidays.
The
years 1914-1918 correspond to the duration of the First World War.
Was Miss Bertram, perhaps, carrying on a business that might have been
undertaken by male photographers, but for the outbreak of the war?
