Comments from Christina B Paton

I recently received additional information on John Naismith Paton from his granddaughter Christina B Paton.

Christina wrote:

John Naismith Paton

Glasgow

"John N Paton had a studio at Shields Road, Glasgow, and also somewhere in Edinburgh.  (He does not appear to be listed in the Edinburgh trade directories, perhaps because he was working in his father's Paton Studio.

I know John N Paton married my grandmother in 1890 in Edinburgh Parish.

John N Paton's son was also a painter and liked to do landscape pictures. I've located a couple of his oil paintings.

From what I've seen of my grandfather's work, he had a good eye for lighting.

The photograph above is of my father, James (son of John N Paton) as a  young child, sitting on the knee of the photographer James Paton (father of John N Paton).

The photograph was taken by John N Paton in his Shiels Road studio, just after the christening service. around 1895."
