The Location

This view is taken from the steps of Register House at the East End of Princes Street, looking almost directly into the sun (with a bit of lens flare at the bottom of the photo) towards:

-  The statue of Wellington (the 'Iron Duke') in bronze by Steele.

-  the clock tower of the Balmoral Hotel, formerly the North British Railway Hotel.
