Future Plans
Braid Church was sold by Church of Scotland in 2009. Its new owners, G
& L Properties, intend to convert it into a venue and performing arts centre,
which would have:
- a 400 seat auditorium
- a second, smaller theatre
- a studio for dance classes
- a bar
- catering facilities
Architects, Format Design (the
company that converted the Royal Bank of Scotland's office at the East end of
George Street to become The Dome) have submitted a planning
application for Braid Church.
A Planning Application has been submitted. If planning consent is granted, they hope that the conversion can be
completed by summer 2010. Members of Morningside Community Council were
due to meet with the developers in mid-January 2010 to discuss the application.
