Recent Past Braid Church at Morningside is a B-listed building, built in 1886. In recent years, it has been used as a community centre attached to Morningside Parish Church, situated just under 1/4 mile to the south. Future Plans Braid Church was sold by Church of Scotland in 2009. Its new owners, G & L Properties, intend to convert it into a venue and performing arts centre, which would have: - a 400 seat auditorium - a second, smaller theatre - a studio for dance classes - a bar - catering facilities Architects, Format Design (the company that converted the Royal Bank of Scotland's office at the East end of George Street to become The Dome) have submitted a planning application for Braid Church. A Planning Application has been submitted. If planning consent is granted, they hope that the conversion can be completed by summer 2010.
