Thank you to Brien Towler for allowing me to reproduce this picture that he took while in Edinburgh in 1962.

The stands for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo spectators have been erected around the edge of the esplanade.  Cars and coaches from the 1950s and 1960s are parked in the centre of the esplanade.
