The National Monument on Calton Hill

Here is a tinted lithograph by T Picken after J Harding, c.1880.  This was one of many lithographs published in Scotland Delineated.

It shows the National Monument on Calton Hill, partially completed.  It was proposed to finance this monument by public subscription from throughout Scotland, but the funds were soon exhausted so the monument was never completed.
