Four Generations

This photograph is a collage of 4 generations of the family of the Rodger family. In the picture are, clockwise, from the top:

1.  Thomas Rodger (1786-?) grandfather of 'the photographer'.

2.  Thomas Rodger (1809-1876), referred to elsewhere on this site as Thomas Rodger Sen.  He posed, sometimes in costume for Thomas Rodger, the photographer.

3.  Thomas Rodger (1856-?) son of 'the photographer'.  Did he go on to become a partner with his father in the Edinburgh photographic studio, T Rodger & Sons', 1879-81?

4.  Thomas Rodger (1832-1883), 'the photographer', referred to on this site as Thomas Rodger JunHe was one of the pioneering photographers in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland in the 1840s.  He photographed several of the other early photographers including John Adamson, Antoine Claudet, and D O Hill.
