This postcard is one in the
Albany Series.
The card was posted in Edinburgh on July 24 1911, with the simple
message: "Having a rare time here."
The event would have been the departure of King George V from
Edinburgh, following his Royal Visit at the start of his reign.
The coach and horses are turning from
Waverley Bridge into
Waverley Station, between two of the four large signs that read:
"North British Railway Waverley Station".
Princes street runs along the top of the picture. The smoke and
steam from the trains in Waverley Station can be seen emerging through the
station roof at the bottom left corner of the picture.
